About Camp Stephens
The Wellbeing of Campers is our Paramount Concern

..Safety

At Camp Stephens we endeavour to make the quality of each individual's camp experience our top priority. Providing a safe environment for campers is an integral part of this goal. Our accredited programs follow standards established by the Manitoba Camping Association and YMCA and YWCA Canada.

..Accommodation

Each camper lives in a small group with their own qualified counsellor where they can learn the most important life skill of all - how to get along with one another through the demonstration of values in action.

..Food

Each day our food services staff prepares delicious, nutritionally-balanced meals. This dedicated team is led by a full-time food service manager who is responsible for coordinating quality camp meals three times a day.

Our food service team is able to meet most dietary needs identified on your child's health history form. Each cabin group eats together at their own table in the camp's dining hall, which has been recently renovated to include a fresh interior, new windows, flooring, a deck and amphitheatre.

Teamwork is the answer to any meal, so each camper has an opportunity to be the 'hasher'. The hasher is a cabin group member who is responsible for the setting and clearing the group's table for a particular meal.

..Wellness

Camp Stephens has a new Camp Wellness Centre to ensure a healthy and comfortable stay for your child. Our fulltime on-site emergency medical technician attends to the health and welfare of campers during their stay at Camp Stephens. When registering your child for camp, you will be asked to fill out a health history form to help us provide the best care for your child. This form will also allow you to identify any dietary needs your child has.

The Camp Wellness Centre stores campers’ prescription and non-prescription medicines, and has beds available for campers who feel unwell. If your child needs medical attention, our camp emergency medical director will contact you with information about such things as ear and throat infections, sprained ankles etc.

Campers requiring further medical treatment can be transported to Kenora District Hospital, which is only 10 minutes by boat (weather permitting) from Camp Stephens.
